Boxing Day migraine

For the past 4 days I've had a migraine, now before you feel sorry for me (guilty face) I must warn you that this is purely self-inflicted. Sooooo, now you're wondering what on earth could have caused a headache with such severity.....Well it was...(drum roll please)

The start of the annual boxing day sale!!

Yes, read it & weep! The God forsakingly amazing boxing day sale! It has taken me 4 days of migraines & heavy palpitations (no exaggeration...well..) to admit that the sales I've been witnessing are actually pretty ALRIGHT! If I'm honest though, it is the vast lack of funds that have stopped me from appreciating the sale frenzy as much as I would like to. Hmmmmm.....actually that is not entirely true, my problem is that I want oooooooh so much...(sighs & stares into space). My friend actually made a joke today about taking out a loan to shop! Hmmmm...that might be a good iiideea...Okay enough already I am JOKING!

Below are the sale items that have been torturing me (in a good way):

HELMUT LANG, Jersey and leather draped jacket Was £585 Now £409.50

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN, Lynn 120 backless ankle boots Was £625 Now £375

MOTEL, Rose print jumpsuit Was: £50 Now: £25

OPENING CEREMONY, Suede bow front wedges Was: £295 Now: £206.50

ASHISH, Sequined leopard-pattern skirt Was: £365 Now £255.50

Phew......So those are the top five things that have been contributing to my headaches! Hmmm...funny that I feel slight relief. Think I'll treat this post as therapy. :)

So for those of you who are yet to shop the sale, my advice would be;

1. Breathe & remember; just because it's on sale doesn't mean you need it. Think about whether you loved it before the red marker appeared on the tag.

2. Just think you may want something that costs the same amount as three or four items you absolutely love. Way out the pros & cons of each item c-a-a-a-arefully.

3. If you're a follower of trends, think about whether you can carry these pieces through the seasons ahead.

4. Finally, if you don't get to buy anything in this year's sale, remember there is always Bicester village. Designer sales all year round!

Destination: MARC BY MARC JACOBS

So yesterday Mrs Joe McElderry aka Livie & I made a dash to the Marc by Marc Jacobs store to buy some Christmas stocking fillers. I was first introduced to this designer market place as I fondly call it by my friend Jane who decided to let me in on the secret. Errrrr.......Why didn't I pay attention to this before. I mean there was ONLY an article about it in 'The Independent' newspaper in APRIL dammit!!! Anyway, you can get lovely pressies for great prices and with the recession and all need I say more.

I bought a few bits for my sister and my niece. Unfortunately, I can't share what I got them just in case. However, I can share that I bought everyone a mirror. A heart shaped one to be precise. God knows how many of these Livie bought, I lost count after a while. She was in shopping heaven, so I thought it best to leave her there. Hehehehe...

£3, It's a great little stocking filler. Hence why we boughts loads.

So all in all, we had a very productive day. To top of my triumphant day I came home & made a fabulous roast lamb dinner, topped with yorkshire puds & bisto gravy. Ok, so maybe that doesn't sound that amazing but I'm new to this cooking game so bear with me.

Again, I know that I am soooooooooo blooming late of the mark with this (no pun intended). But, if you haven't already made a trip down to the store in London's Mayfair. I suggest you set a date in your diary asap. Well before Christmas at least!! Believe me you will not regret it!

**Marc by Marc Jacobs, 56 South Audley Street, London W1**

P.S Livie bought me a Christmas gift too (Squeals) a really lovely paisley tote, which I will be using all this week! Thanks Mrs McElderry! Hehehe....Take a peek below:

After dark FLASHBACK......Common 'I want you'

I remember when this video aired in late October 2007. At the time I was still licking my wounds from an earlier break up. Watching my longstanding crush Common, describe this complicated love, highlighted that I wanted my ex-boyfriend back (Yes, I know...ridiculous). I went on to watch this video twice a day, like an obsessed teenager (YUCK & FIRM SHAKE OF HEAD). You'll be pleased to know that I quickly got over it THANK GOD and just appreciated the visual.

(Sings) I want you, I want you, I want you, I want....YOU.

Enjoy!

And MODEL OF THE YEAR goes to...Georgia May

Please join The Fashioness in saluting the young Georgia May Jagger on her prestigious accolade for Model of the year at the British Fashion Awards. Even Daisy Lowe tweeted that Jagger is 'super amazing'.

She has reminded us that you can be a Vogue cover girl with an unbraced (if that's even a word) gap in between your teeth and still be a pin up. Move over Madonna there is a new rep in town.

P.S In some cultures a gap in between your teeth is a sign of wealth! Hmmmmmm....something told me not to get braces. :)

I GET LIPPY!

So a little while ago I did a post on the AMAZING Solange Azagury-Partridge, since then I've been pining (PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THE DEFINITION: to yearn deeply; suffer with longing; long painfully) and trying desperately to justify spending £980 on her iconic 'Hot lips' ring.

Available at NET-A-PORTER.COM £980

Hardly coming up with an answer to this despicable dilemma, I then started hunting around the internet for a much more inexpensive (or just downright CHEAP)rip off that would be worthy of turning heads.

Low and behold I found it!!! I mean what on earth had I been thinking.....I regularly go on the wonderful www.luluguiness.com and had not managed to spot the 'Red diamante pave lips ring'. Believe me, from this moment on I made sure that my old school Chanel reading glasses were firmly on my nose, to avoid any other accidental oversight!!

Available at WWW.LULUGUINNESS.COM £55

Happy with my find, well so I thought I put it on my Christmas wishlist, weeell it was there until I came across the Butler & Wilson Adjustable Swarovski Crystal Lip Ring for a mere £18!! Whoooohooooo......Christmas came early as there was ONLY one left which meant that I had to purchase it there 'n' then...soooooo I did?! Hehehe.....

Available at Butler & Wilson £18 (No longer available...SQUEALS)

So, there you have it my lippy dillema has now officially ended (Breathes a sigh of relief) I am currently awaiting the delivery in the post, but once it arrives I'll take a picture, put it up and try very hard not to include my big grin.

The Magic box of Solange Azagury-Partridge....

The mere mentioning of Solange Azagury-Partridge's jewellery leaves me feeling breathless. Each piece comes with a magic that transcends beyond your imagination & time, that rare Alice in wonderland moment that leaves you reminiscent of your childhood. A true modern day visionary, Azagury-Partridge allows you to enter her world of surrealism & poetry.

And now for my favourite collection of all......Hot lips! Awwwwwww.......

Still breathing?

After dark FLASHBACK.......Janet Jackson 'IF'

I remember this song with such fondness, first of all this video is the hotness!!!

Gosh.....I rehearsed the dance moves from Janet Jackson's 'If' from Winter 2000-Spring 2001 (yes, perfecting the moves of 'Miss Jackson if your nasty' takes that long). Laying down each move without flaws became an obssession, not one person that came to visit left our house without having watched me do the WHOLE routine at least once. To make matters worse, Christmas of 2000, I had been rehearsing sooooo hard that I hurt my back & couldn't walk. My dad was like 'If you can dance like that to Janet Jackson, you can walk around the corner for Christmas mass.' lol! I was not laughing at the time BELIEVE me!!!

Boy, how time flies....This midnight flashback just makes me want to do it all over again. (Sings) If I was your girl, la la la la la la la........ :)

Enjoy!

My wants, my needs.......

I am in dire need of the following items:

(BIG LONG LASTING SIGHS)

1. Wolford Fringe tights

2. Burberry Prorsum Cutout leather sandals

3. Helmut Lang Wool-blend jacket

4. Alexander Wang Diego suede studded bucket bag

To wear a coat or not to wear a coat?

I realised at the end of September that for the past two winters I had got away with NOT wearing a coat. I wore cotton jackets, blazers and everything but a coat. Since I had managed to do this for two years, I thought I would get away with it again 3rd winter in a row. The funny thing is I have no idea what I was remotely trying to prove, if anything at all. You see I actually HEART the season winter & reap the utmost joy and pleasure in wrapping up in the best wool number I can find. Over the years this has come in the form of a Burberry quilted coat, a Reiss herringbone and the list goes on. But for the past month I have been soldiering the British weather & riding high WITHOUT a coat.

At work my friends, Livie & La diva are constantly rabbiting on about me not wearing a coat and I have always had an excuse. 'The shoulder pads on this dress won't allow.', 'I live closer to work now so, the journey is not long enough for me to get cold.' I mean what the HELL!!! :)

Well the weekend just gone, it all went to pot when my mum asked me why I continue to travel through the cold streets of London without a coat on. She went on and on about it so much that I just couldn't take it anymore. Having carefully thought about it, I realised that my current problem was that after just getting married, paying lots of bills, and going part time at work, I just couldn't afford the kind of coat that I wanted.

I obviously won a sympathy vote because when I next went to visit mum, she offered me a golden handshake and when I opened my palm it was filled with enough money to buy the coat of my dreams. Hallelujah, Christmas had come early! The time for some long awaited retail therapy had arrived.

I hopped straight onto NET-A-PORTER.COM and drew out some contenders (that I had picked out earlier) ;-/:

1. Vanessa Bruno Wrap-over wool coat

2. Burberry Double-breasted cashmere-blend coat

3.Helmut Lang Wrap wool trench coat

After much debate (I can be so darn indecisive) and some votes from La diva, Livie & a few other trusty friends at work, I decided to go for the Vanessa Bruno number! Yay!

The life and times of a self acclaimed diva....Arghhhh..... :)
